Registration

This year's LCDBF registration is closed
LCDBF registration is FULL for 2008!

Due to the enthusiasm of our community, we have filled all of the team spots for this year's Lake Champlain Dragon Boat Festival. Our Dragonheart team thanks you all for your support. View a list of the 2008 Field of Teams on our Team Information and Tips page soon. It's going to be a great year of racing for sure. Come on down to the Burlington Waterfront on Sunday August 3, 2008 to be part of the fun and festivities.

Even if you can't race, you can still be part of the day. We could use your help. Please sign up to be a festival volunteer. You can also help further our cause by sending in a donation. Your donation moves us closer to this year's festival goal of $100,000. Just click on <Volunteers> or <Donations> to find out more. Our Dragonheart team truly appreciates your kind support. If you want to place your name on a list for next year's event to receive information prior to registration, please email your interest to info@ridethedragon.org.

If you are a breast cancer survivor dragon boat team, please email Linda about participating in our <Sisters at Heart Celebration> at info@ridethedragon.org

If you have any questions about our Lake Champlain Dragon Boat Festival or our Sisters at Heart Celebration, please call Linda at 802-434-4423. Thanks.

More details

The first 75 community teams to file completed registration forms with paid registration fees and team waivers signed on line will be assured a place in this year’s festival. The status of your registration must say “Complete” to be able to participate in the festival.

<Register online> by clicking on the registration tab and following the instructions. Convenient payment of the registration fee is through Pay Pal. Payment of the entire team fee will be required at time of registration, so have your credit card ready.

Don't delay or you will miss out on this summer's most exciting event. You need 20 paddlers and 1 drummer to fill a boat. However, you may begin your registration with 16 paddlers and update your registration when you have recruited the remainder of your team. Each boat must have at least 8 women paddlers. You may have more women, but not less. All teams must have their own drummer. The best drummers are smaller in stature (16 years or older) and long on enthusiasm and leadership.

Registration Deadline — Registration information and race fees must be received by June 27, 2008. However, registration will close when the first 75 teams have registered. Don't miss out on the fun.

Benefits — Not only are you supporting a great cause, for your $1,470 race fees, you get almost as much as you give! You will receive:

  • A free 90-minute practice
  • 2-3 races on race day
  • A chance to vie for a Challenge Cup
  • A chance to vie for the Citizens Bank Champ Cup
  • A souvenir festival T-shirt and
  • A medal

Awards — There will be a variety of team spirit awards given out. We encourage teams to distinguish themselves with a distinctive name, T-shirts, hats, song, cheer, or dance!!!! Our Spirit Committee will be waiting to hand out some great prizes for the best of the bunch.

Additional Fundraising — We are also encouraging teams to raise above and beyond your race fees, since it is all for a great cause — Dragonheart Vermont and our pledge partner — The Cancer Patient Support Program's Emergency Fund. We have special awards for the top fundraisers. You may download a pledge form on this page to facilitate the effort. We will also have hats available at your team practice that we hope you will consider as part of your fundraising efforts. You will sell space on your hat for your friends and family to sign their names to sponsor your efforts, to honor a survivor, and/or to remember someone who has been touched by breast cancer. We thank you for your efforts.

Practice Weekend — Choose a time for your free practice session. These valuable practices will take place on the weekend of July 12-13. It is not necessary to take part in a practice session in order to race in the festival, but it is highly recommended. Practices are instrumental in getting familiar with paddling and racing techniques. Available times are listed in the registration area to be chosen by the captain of the team. Available times are filled on a first-come, first-serve basis.

Volunteer — Anyone who wants to be involved in the festival but cannot paddle, please consider signing up to be a volunteer. Dragonheart surely appreciates your help. <To sign up as a volunteer, click here>.
