Community Volunteers

2011Volunteer1.jpgDragonheart Vermont needs your help on festival day, Sunday, August 6, 2017. We've got all kinds of fun jobs that need to be filled, so you're sure to find one that appeals to you, and with slots from 6 a.m. to 5 p.m. we can accommodate your schedule. Can you give us a hand? We can really use your help! As a volunteer you’ll be right in the middle of all the fun and festivities. We’re sure you’ll have a wonderful experience. All we ask is a minimum of two hours of your time. There are many volunteer opportunities, including Registration, the Children’s Tent with games and face painting, The Green Team recycling, Boat Bailers, DragonMart Sales, team marshals, parking, set-up, clean-up, and much more. The festival and all its charitable work can’t happen without you and our wonderful community. As a special thank-you, you receive your own Dragonheart Vermont festival T-Shirt!

50/50 Raffle   sell raffle tickets throughout the festival grounds  
Announcers   WOKO   
Athlete's Village Tent   information, lost and found, etc.  
Award's Tent   watch over awards Volunteers to hand out the participatory medals to all out community racers! This happens after the second race of
the day.
Bike   bike valet  
Children's Tent   face painting, help with various games, etc.  
Cider Garden   Tag's crew The Cider garden needs 3 volunteers at 1:00 PM on Sat to move tables and chairs to various locations after the Sister's lunch. 3 volunteers will be needed from 6:00-9:00 PM on Saturday night for the Sunset party. 3 volunteers will be needed on Sunday from 12:00-4:00 for the Sunday entertainment.
Coaches Tent Helper   help with supplies, errands, etc.  
Communications   John Lentinie I need two able bodied people to help set up Sound Systems on Friday afternoon August 5 from 2:30-6:30. We will set up speakers, run power and audio cables, and test equipment. Some lifting required.
Community Team Hosts   DHVT hosts each team Host a community Team; greeting them as they arrive; show where Registration is; show them where their spot is in Athlete's Village. Review them when their first race is and be available for at least their first two races to make sure that they are headed to marshaling at the right time.

Dragon Coaches   DHVT and 22 Dragons  
Dragon Dogs   Cook, Cashier, and Runner Help set up, cook, sell, and clean up Dragon Dogs. Sign up for a morning shift to help set up the booth, open hot dog buns, set up condiments, drinks, grill stations, and warm hot dogs. Come in the early afternoon to help sell the dogs and give great customer service to hungry patrons. Help clean up and break down the booth at the end of the day.

Festival Support and Central Information Assistant

Assist primary lead in providing information about the festival, what is happening where and when and general support where needed for DHVT volunteers and staff.  Position may be Dragonheart or community volunteer.

Finish Line   bring race results from finish line to leader boards for updating  
Green Team   Judy Kinner's crew Monitor 1 of 8 waste stations throughout the Festival grounds to guide the public in disposing of their trash. There will be 3 containers at each station; trash, recycle and compost, with posted signage. Your job will be to interact with the public in a fun and educational way while encouraging then to do the right thing! Waste Warriors preferred but definitely not necessary. You will be instructed in your guidance if necessary.
Leader Board Update   keep race results updated Folks who volunteer for this position will be stationed at the large paper race results board in shifts throughout the day. It's a FUN job with lots of opportunities to enjoy the festival!

Pick Your Prize   sell tickets, watch over buckets, etc. 1)Sell PYP Tickets to the crowd. Walk around the festival grounds selling tickets. Explain the PYP raffle to customers.
2)"Stand guard" over the ticket buckets. Explain the PYP raffle to customers. Assist with putting tickets in the buckets for individuals and community teams. Assist customers in filling out their tickets if needed.

Go to Athlete’s village and get the teams to the mustering area under the trees in time for prep for their race. Keep track of the race schedule and teams due up. Ensure teams are to the muster area in time for warm up and collecting of equipment.

Greet the teams at Muster area with Hosts. Organize the teams by race schedule. Take the teams in order from the muster location to the Zumba area. Keep the bike path clear.

 

Staging Brigade Paddle Gypsies

DHVT Only

 

These four workers (one per tent) take crews OUT of the Zumba line when the Faucets feed crews INTO the Zumba line.

They take the teams to the equipment pile and bring them back to their tent where they wait until the dock managers call them to load. Be prepared to jump into a boat as a paddler or a drummer if needed on a team.

Hand out paddles, butt pads and PFD’s to racers going to race and collecting equipment from racers as they finish. Organize paddles and PFD’s by size. Direct traffic to the right of the parking lot as they leave to keep the traffic flow going.

Camp Ta-Kum-Ta

This year, Dragonheart Vermont is continuing its exciting program to help the cancer wellness in our community by supporting Camp Ta-Kum-Ta in their endeavor to build a new multi-use pavilion. Camp Ta-Kum-Ta provides challenging, extraordinary experiences in a safe and loving environment for children who have or have had cancer and their families  We all need to reach deep in our hearts to support the people in our community who need your help. Together, we provide the support they need.  Join us as a volunteer. Dragonheart Festival Committee Volunteers

We would like to take this opportunity to thank the Dragonheart Vermont Festival Committee! They started in October 2015 and have put in many hundreds of hours to put on this event. Now you can join in. We’re inviting the community to help plan the festival as well as support us on Festival Day.
